Capitol Gears, Inc.
originally produced the following models HE10200, HE10700, HE11200, HE11700
HY6900, HY7700, HP7700, HP6900 and many other additional models which began in St. Paul Minnesota during the early 1900’s. The company used
its many years of design experience to provide a comprehensive line of marine
transmissions that included 12 marine reduction models and four direct drive
models for either industrial or marine use. Most of the designs were for
workboats, fish boats, tugboats and large pleasure craft using medium and high
speed diesel engines up to approximately 1600 hp. The main uses are: main
propulsion, PTO, bow thruster, steerable propeller, v-drive.
The Capitol design was intended to be simple and durable. The extremely wide
helical gear teeth are carburized and ground providing quiet operation and long
life. Heavy duty anti-friction bearings are conservatively rated and the output
shaft used a double lip oil seal to keep the oil in and the bilge water out.
PREP

service for these transmissions for many years. We manufacture parts and
assemble components from the original Capitol drawings. We stock the replacement
components, ready for immediate shipment worldwide. Our service personnel have many years training and experience in repairing
